Former Chamber Chairman J. Glenn Beall Jr. Dead at 78
Maryland’s business community lost a great leader last week, as J. Glenn Beall Jr., a former U.S. Senator and former Maryland Chamber Chairman, passed away at age 78.
Beall was a tireless advocate for Maryland’s business community. He served 14 years in elected office, winning election to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1962, the U.S. House of Representatives in 1968 and the U.S. Senate in 1970. After his time in elected office he returned to his family’s insurance business. He served as Chairman & CEO of Beall Garner Screen & Geare Inc. Under his leadership the firm grew to be one of the largest privately owned insurance agencies in the United States. Beall served as Maryland Chamber Chairman from 1992-1994. Shortly after his retirement, the firm was bought by CBIZ.
