Maryland Makes WSJ's Op-Ed Page ... Again
The state of Maryland was, once again, featured on the op-ed page of the Wall Street Journal. In an editorial entitled, “Lights Out in Maryland,” the Journal discussed the posturing that took place near the end of the session to deal with the pending BGE rate increase.
“This episode is just one more example of how Maryand is developing a reputation for being a bad place to do business. Within the past year, the legislature has increased the minimum wage and foisted a new health-care tax on Wal-Mart. During his four years in office, Governor Ehrlich has had to beat back $7.5 billion in tax hikes in a state with a budget of $29 billion. The message being sent to job creators is clear: Lights out.”
