Editorial: Maryland Legislators Fail Basic Economics

An editorial in today’s Baltimore Examiner, “Maryland legislators fail basic economics,” reinforces the message that we need to identify, support and elect more pro-business legislators in Maryland.

The editorial touches on the passage of the Wal-Mart bill and the minimum wage increase bill, despite the business community’s opposition and the Governor’s veto. It also examines the band-aid solution that was adopted to deal with Maryland’s medical liability crisis.

This November, the business community has an opportunity to change the dynamics of the Maryland General Assembly. As the election nears the Maryland Chamber will be stepping up its efforts to get out the pro-business vote, and to provide useful information to employers and employees about the candidates running in their districts.

The Maryland Chamber is partnering with the U.S. Chamber to create a resource website for business people seeking information about candidates running for office in Maryland. Visit www.mdvoteforbusiness.com to check it out. The site already includes information about candidates seeking federal office. Beginning with the July 3 candidate filing deadline, the site will be updated to include information about all the candidates in state legislative races.
