No Cell Phones in District Court of Maryland for Baltimore County

Effective tomorrow, June 1, cell phones will not be allowed in any location of the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore County. This rule applies to all three county locations – Towson, Catonsville and Essex.

Admission into the building will be refused to any person carrying a cell phone. The District Court will not provide for storage. It will be the responsibility of the owner to arrange for safekeeping outside of the buildings.

Rules regarding carrying cell phones vary from county to county, even in District Court. Working with the Maryland Judiciary, the Maryland Chamber hopes to compile a statewide resource outlining the various rules in the near future. But, for the time being, remember that you can’t take cell phones into District Court in Baltimore County.
