Legislature Makes Business Uneasy
With the legislature taking up the electric industry restructuring bill today, the Baltimore Sun has a great story in the Business Section that examines the impact of recent actions by the General Assembly on Maryland’s business climate.
The story ends with a quote from Frank Kelly, of Maryland Chamber member Kelly & Associates Insurance Group:
“There’s nothing that any legislative body can do to control prices,” said Kelly, who is founder, chairman and chief executive of the 300-employee Kelly & Associates Insurance Group in Hunt Valley. “I’ll be honest with you: As a businessman in Maryland, I’m concerned about the atmosphere that’s being created every time the legislature steps in and tries to take control.”
