Tonight at 11
The 11 p.m. news tonight on WBAL TV 11 will feature a story on identity theft, including a discussion of the security breach bill that was debated during the 2006 General Assembly session. Chamber Vice President for Government Affairs Ron Wineholt was interviewed for the story.
The Chamber originally raised concerns that the bill went to far. Thankfully, however, the Senate Finance Committee acted on feedback from the business community and amended the legislation to produce a bill that enhances the protection of consumer information, without overreaching or subjecting businesses to needless lawsuits. In the end, the bill passed the Senate 46-0, but no action was taken in the House.
Tune in tonight to learn more. I’ll post a link to the video tomorrow if they make it available.
