Absentee Count Boosts GOP in Anne Arundel County

The Baltimore Sun is reporting today that three Anne Arundel County Republicans who trailed after election day voting now lead their races after the counting of absentee and provisional ballots.

In District 31, Bryan Simonaire appears to have won the Senate seat left vacant by retiring Democratic Senator Phil Jimeno. Also, Del. Don Dwyer (R) has taken the lead over Del. Joan Cadden (D) in a race that is still too close to call. The two incumbents are fighting for the final seat in a three person district. Republican newcomers Steve Schuh and Nick Kipke won the other two seats.

In District 30, Republican Ron George now leads Democrat Barbara Samorajczyk for the third in a three person district. Incumbent Democrats Michael Busch and Virginia Clagett won the other two seats.
