House Health Care Expansion Bills
Today, the House Health and Government Operations Committee will hear a number of bills aimed at increasing access to health care. Two of the main bills up for debate are Governor Martin O’Malley’s bill, HB 132, the Maryland Health Care Access Act of 2007) and Committee Chairman Del. Pete Hammen’s bill, HB 754, Children and Working Families Health Care Act of 2007.
Health care affordability is a priority of the Maryland Chamber. We support most aspects of these two bills as reasonable steps to extend health care access to the uninsured. However, the Chamber will urge legislators to make a number of changes to whichever bill committee decides to move.
