Opponents decry tax proposal
Testifying against the bill was Karen Syrylo, a tax consultant with the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, who said 40 percent of current state sales tax revenue is from businesses’ purchases. She appealed to the committee to combine the ideas of several current tax and use bills into one comprehensive, analytical effort.
Businesses irate over filing-fee legislation
The Maryland Chamber of Commerce opposes the filing fee increase, saying in a report that it is ‘‘out of line with fees in surrounding states.” The Montgomery County chamber also opposes the bill.
