Chamber's Tax Committee to Meet with Franchot
The Maryland Chamber of Commerce Tax Committee will meet with Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at 9:30 am, in the offices of Ober Kaler at 120 E. Baltimore Street, 9th floor, Baltimore, MD 21202-1643.
Franchot will open the meeting, discussing current tax administration in the Comptroller’s office, his views on future Maryland tax legislation, and how we can all work together. We will save time for Q&A with him.
After the discussion with Franchot, the committee will discuss the current picture for major revenue legislation on the horizon, and what we can do to provide information to the legislature and the Administration to assist in their decision making and drafting. Discussion topics include:
- Current State budget picture;
- Sales tax on services, sales tax rate, corporate income tax rate, combined reporting, personal income tax rate, gasoline taxes, etc. — all the items that were reviewed in the 2007 legislative session and the predictions for what will be included in the next session;
- The process for designing the package;
- Potential for a special session
- What we as tax specialists can do to participate.
We hope to have good attendance for this important meeting. Please RSVP to Kristen Solis at 410-269-0642, ksolis@mdchamber.org. If you have any questions about, contact Karen Syrylo at ksyrylo@mdchamber.org.
