ID Theft Task Force Sets Schedule

Although the General Assembly enacted major legislation to address data security breaches, its legislative Task Force to Study Identity Theft will continue to examine additional issues that were not covered in this year’s legislation. One of the issues to be examined includes steps taken by state and local governments to protect personal information of Marylanders. As 40 percent of all data security breaches are caused by governments, additional actions to enhance security are appropriate. See a copy of the Task Force’s 2007 meeting schedule here (pdf).
