Federal Minimum Wage Increase to take Effect July 24

The first of a three tiered federal minimum wage increase takes effect on July 24, when the minimum wage increases from $5.15 to $5.85 per hour. The minimum wage will increase to $6.55 per hour effective July 24, 2008; and to $7.25 per hour effective July 24, 2009. Maryland’s minimum wage of $6.15 per hour took effect on February 16. You can access more information about the state minimum wage on the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation website, here.
