Special Session Begins Monday -- Contact Your Legislators Today

Governor Martin O’Malley has called the General Assembly into a special session, which will begin Monday October 29.

As legislators convene next week, they are expected to take up the Governor’s plan to resolve the state’s $1.7 billion general fund structural deficit. The plan would impose more than $660 million in new taxes on Maryland businesses.

The Maryland Chamber encourages you to contact your legislators and urge them avoid tax increases that would have a negative impact on Maryland’s economy and the State’s ability to attract and retain jobs. Encourage them to place more emphasis on spending reductions and the authorization of slot machines.
