Tech Tax Update
The 2008 General Assembly session ends on April 7.
The Fight the Tech Coalition has been working hard all session to convince lawmakers to repeal the computer services sales tax enacting during the November 2007 special session. While our effort has gained momentum, the legislature has not acted yet.
Call your legislators today and urge them to repeal the tech tax:
- The tax will stifle economic development and job creation.
- It will make Maryland businesses less competitive.
- It will hurt small and growing companies.
- It will damage important Maryland industries that rely on technology services to innovate and compete.
- It will be difficult for the state to administer.
WBAL radio is reporting that Governor O’Malley will meet with legislative leaders tonight to discuss the possible repeal. Hopefully we’ll have some good news to report in the future. In the mean time, help us keep the pressure on the legislature. Contact your lawmakers today.
