June 5: Innovation Made in Maryland
Learn more about one of Maryland’s great small business stories on June 5, when Under Armour Vice President Scott Plank shares the company’s story of innovation and growth. Learn the story behind Under Armour — the good, bad and ugly of growing the company from a start up seeking to make a superior T-shirt to a major performance apparel brand traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
J. Scott Plank has been Senior Vice President of Retail since March 2006. Prior to that, he served as Chief Administrative Officer from January 2004 to February 2006 and Vice President of Finance from 2000 to 2003 with operational and strategic responsibilities. Plank was a director of Under Armour, Inc. from 2001 until July 2005. Plank is the brother of Kevin A. Plank, the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Plank will be the keynote speaker during the Maryland Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Awards Luncheon on June 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the BWI Airport Marriott Hotel. In addition to hearing from Plank, we will honor this year’s Small Business of the Year Awards finalists and announce the winners. The event will also feature a small business trade show and plenty of time for networking.
